Wikidot Chatbox CSI
1304396739|%A, %e %B %Y, %H:%M
Just something I made in my spare time.
Already done:
- It works!
Still todo:
- Put divs (with class names) around the important elements, so that they can be easily styled via CSS
- Create the actual CSI code, allowing you to control layout and appearance that way, or falling back to the default settings if you don't enter something
Expected to be ready:
- Maybe today, maybe in a few days. Low priority… unless someone really wants to use it? Then I'll rush it through faster :)

Nice! Creative use of the new auto-save option. Now you've got me thinking…

… that was the plan :) I'm interested to see what you do with it.
Though it's not quite as powerful as it could be… if we could control it via URL!

You know…. something like /category:new-page/edit/true/title/Example%20title/mode/save-and-go/goTo/pagename.
Edit: To clarify, in my comment above when I said "control it via URL", it is the new autosave feature for the ListPages module… not my CSI.

How cool! Did you time lapse the video? Because it seems as though the page didn't refresh and only the ListPages module did… Which was really cool.
I guess the only difference between the chat box and the chat room app is that the conversation doesn't refresh automatically as other users make new posts.
Oh wait! It looks like an iframe! So that's how the page didn't refresh! Clevah!

No time lapse at all - and I noticed that! Maybe only LP was reloaded.

The only downside to this is that I can't figure out a way to turn the text input into a textarea or textarea-like input (in that text doesn't wrap within the text field). This kind of limits the depth of discussion. On the other hand, it is good for making people keep their comments short. Plus, you get to see the comment in the email notification (which you don't with page-based forums & James' chatroom).
Do you know if there is a character limit for page titles?

Yes, there is a character limit, but I'm not sure exactly what it is. I just remember it being extended a long time ago to be longer.
I just tried it though… Wikidot lets me type in 128 characters. Saving the page doesn't trim anything, so it remains at 128 characters after saving too. So, a bit shorter than Twitter (for anyone that doesn't know, Twitter allows 140 character messages).
